Illustrative Fine Line Black & Grey Tattooing
Hi there, I'm Eddy Lou (she/her), owner of FLT Tattoo Studio. I've been tattooing since 2010 and specialise in illustrative fine-line black and grey tattooing, with a focus on precise linework, rich textures, and carefully balanced tonal values. My work is known for its intricate detail, including the cross-hatched portraits that have become a signature part of my style, inspired by historical intaglio printmaking techniques.
As a multidisciplinary artist working across tattooing, illustration, printmaking, painting, and ceramics, my tattoo practice is informed by a broad range of artistic influences. I draw inspiration from 15th–17th century printmaking, Victorian ephemera, scientific and medical illustration, and movements such as the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Pre-Raphaelites, and Surrealism. Artists including Gustave Doré, Albrecht Dürer, Hendrick Goltzius, Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, and Norman Lindsay continue to shape my visual language.
I work primarily in illustrative black and grey, creating custom tattoos across a wide range of subjects including fantasy, mythology, botanicals, animals, occult themes, and pop culture. I particularly enjoy reinterpreting historical artworks and imagery through my own lens. My goal is always to create tattoos that are technically excellent, thoughtfully designed, and built to age beautifully, work that complements the body and gives the wearer a sense of pride, confidence, and ownership over their story.
As a disabled and neurodivergent artist, I place a strong emphasis on accessibility, collaboration, and client comfort. I strive to create a welcoming environment where people feel respected, supported, and actively involved in the tattoo process. While I ask clients to trust my expertise, I also work hard to understand their vision and create something that feels uniquely theirs.
The most important thing you need to know about me, however, is that I really love cats.
